Orton Catering is a private catering company owned and operated by Sam and Mary Orton.
Our company has been at the forefront of the hospitality industry in Hawke’s Bay and surrounding regions for over 30 years.
We are the largest privately owned catering company in this area enjoying a reputation for excellence throughout Hawke’s Bay and the Central North Island.
We have venues
located in beautiful locations at two of the finest vineyards in Hawke’s Bay, Sileni Estates and Black Barn Vineyards.
We cater for a wide variety of events at Sileni Estates and Black Barn, or at a venue of your choice, or at a selection of other venues
are our speciality – from the first point of contact to those tense days pre-wedding to the day itself. We are renowned for delivering the complete hospitality package.

||Arnault Vallée / Orton Catering Head Chef
Arnault Vallee trained in France in a 2 Star Michelin Family Restaurant learning the art of cooking.He then moved to London to work for the famous Roux Brothers, before advancing to work with a big brigade at the Ritz. He also helped build the reputation of what is now London’s leading party design company - The Admirable Crichton. He immigrated to New Zealand in 2000 where he took the position of head chef at Austin’s in Auckland, a position that he held for almost 5 years before moving to Hawke’s Bay and joining our company.
Terry Lowe / Black Barn Bistro Head Chef
Terry Lowe has been Head Chef at Black Barn Bistro Havelock North since it’s opening in 2003. With his dedicated team, he has established an international reputation as a ‘must visit’ for locals and visitors to Hawke’s Bay.
He feels inspired to be working in a region where there is an abundance of fresh produce and an amazing climate. As a chef he feels that you never stop learning and even if you cook all of your life you only scratch the surface and for this reason he loves cooking as “every days a new day”.
